Elisa ZiedElisa Zied, MS, RD

Elisa Zied is a registered dietitian and a New York State certified nutritionist. For more than a decade, Elisa has counseled individuals and families to manage their weight and various health conditions including diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol. She has also helped clients create individually tailored and realistic nutrition and lifestyle programs to meet their unique needs during various life stages including pregnancy and lactation, childhood and adolescence, and menopause.

Elisa is a national media spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association, the nation’s largest professional organization that represents more than 65,000 nutrition professionals. Reporters and producers regularly seek out Elisa's nutrition expertise and real-world approach to nutrition. Elisa is a regular guest on The Early Show (CBS). She has also appeared on the Today Show (NBC) and other national and local programs on CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, Food Network, Lifetime, and NY1.

Elisa has written for Weight Watchers magazine, Seventeen magazine (for which she was a contributing editor), and Environmental Nutrition Newsletter. Elisa recently teamed up with Redbook magazine as their Real Life, Healthy Life Dietitian. Starting in January, 2007, Elisa’s tips and advice are featured each month as part of their Real Life, Healthy Life Makeover year-long program. Elisa works individually with each of the three makeover candidates, and contributes to the monthly magazine column and weekly online program. Elisa is frequently quoted in publications including the The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Washington Post, Ladies’ Home Journal, Parents, Parenting, Fitness, People, Reader’s Digest, O, Self, New York magazine, Oxygen magazine, Woman’s Day, and Men’s Fitness as well as on various websites.

Elisa is the co-author of the new book, Feed Your Family Right! How to Make Smart Food and Fitness Choices for a Healthy Lifestyle (Wiley, 2007) and So What Can I Eat?! How to Make Sense of the New Dietary Guidelines for Americans and Make Them Your Own (Wiley, 2006).

earned a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and a master of science in clinical nutrition from New York University. Since 1994, she has also been certified as a personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise. Elisa lives in Manhattan with her husband and two young sons. In her spare time, she loves to tap dance, bowl and ice skate.
